Marriott shows “Spirit to Serve” with charitable food donation campaign in Phuket

PHUKET: Marriott International’s hotels and resorts in Phuket, under their Spirit to Serve program, recently joined forces with the Scholars of Sustenance Foundation (SOS) to donate food to people in the local community. Under this important CSR initiative, the general managers and chefs from five hotels came together with the SOS Rescue Kitchen team to prepare 600 three-course meals. These were then packed in reusable food containers at The Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa Phuket and distributed to the people in the communities around Sriphuwanart Park and in Phuket Town. American Standard offers free maintenance checks to hotels in Phuket

BANGKOK: LIXIL Group Corporation (LIXIL), maker of pioneering water and housing products, announced that its brand, American Standard, is helping to fight the impact of COVID-19 by offering free service maintenance checks to hotel operators in Phuket. Phuket hotels fight for their survival as economic fallout is expected

Animal activist petitions Thai government to help starving elephants

BANGKOK: Susan Field, a British citizen residing in Koh Samui, today presented a petition with almost 65,000 signatures to the Thai Government today asking them to provide urgent financial aid for elephants and their handlers who have received no income since tourists disappeared at the start of COVID-19. “The future for elephants in Thailand looks extremely grim. In order to make a few baht, the mahouts may take their elephants back to begging in the streets or other cruel and degrading activities,” said Field, adding “Do these magnificent animals, your national symbol, deserve this? Phuket tourism representatives announce projects to revive the industry

PHUKET: A tourism press conference titled ‘Finally We Meet Again!’ was held yesterday (June 9) at the Jungceylon Shopping Mall on the first day of Phuket’s beaches re-opening, since all beaches across the island had been locked down with regards to the COVID-19 situation.
