JW Marriott Phuket appoints new General Manager

PHUKET: JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa is delighted to announce the appointment of George Varughese as the General Manager effective August 13, 2019. He is responsible for the 261-rooms luxury Phuket resort which is located on Mai Khao Beach. George has been with Marriott International for over 25 years and brings to the role a wealth of global experience through his hotel career in Austria, Germany, USA, China, Malaysia, Australia and Thailand. Thailand Tourism Confidence Index holding steady in 2019

BANGKOK: The quarterly Thailand Tourism Confidence Index of 600 tourism operators was steady at 100 in the second quarter of 2019 and stood at 100 as predicted in the previous quarter. The projection of the Thailand Tourism Confidence Index for the third quarter of 2019 is also set at 100. The survey is a collaboration between the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) and Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Economics and divided into six parts. These include an overview of Thai tourism, confidence index of tourism operators, testimonials from domestic and international tourists, tourism situation during key festivals, international tourist arrival projections, and recommendations for future action. What to do in the case of a jellyfish sting

BANGKOK: Did you ever get stung by a jellyfish? The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has obtained the latest guidelines from the Ministry of Public Health, prepared in collaboration with the public and private sector partners, on what to do in case of a jellyfish sting. According to the Ministry of Public Health, although a jellyfish sting is not that common on Thai beaches but in the case one does happen, these are the recommended steps: Bring the injured person out of the sea to a safe place and immediately call an ambulance (Tel. 1669). TAT announces five new national parks in Thailand

BANGKOK: The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to announce that Thailand has added five new national parks around the country during 2016 to 2019 since the start of the reign of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun (King Rama X). This is also in accordance with Thailand’s 20-Year National Strategic Plan, which targets increasing the forest area to 55% of the entire country by 2037. Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket Raceweek 2019 welcomes sailors from around the world

TAT target 10% growth in 2020 with quality markets and responsible tourism
