BANGKOK: LIXIL Group Corporation (LIXIL), maker of pioneering water and housing products, announced that its brand, American Standard, is helping to fight the impact of COVID-19 by offering free service maintenance checks to hotel operators in Phuket.
Due to the shutdown of the country amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Thailand’s tourism industry and related businesses have been the hardest hit by the absence of international tourists. As one of the provinces that rely heavily on earnings from international tourist spending, Phuket’s hotel businesses in different areas of the island were consequently impacted when tourism shuttered.
Audrey Yeo, Leader, Thailand, LWT APAC, said, “While Phuket is largely a destination for foreign tourists, we are observing more locals from within Thailand visiting the island, taking advantage of the quiet beach and favorable hotel rates. As most hotels were forced to shut down for a few months due to the spread of COVID-19, we decided to do our part to support the hotel operators by offering free service maintenance checks for their bathroom products. This was made possible through our Phuket Customer Care Center where we dispatched our experienced technicians to perform checks on the toilet flushing system, wash basin and shower systems to ensure they are in good working condition. The team also provided free consultation and support for any replacement of defective parts or products.”
As a world leading sanitary-ware brand, American Standard is committed to supporting its business partners and hotel operators in Phuket as the island prepares to welcome both domestic and international tourists.
Audrey added, “Sanitation and hygiene leadership ranks high on our corporate responsibility agenda globally, and we see such initiatives as part of our commitment to contribute to society while putting public health and safety as a top priority. We have received very positive feedback from the hotels. To date, our technical support team have serviced more than 700 bathrooms. We are happy to support our hotel partners in easing the stress as a result of the impact of COVID-19 and helping them to prepare for reopening of their hotels to guests.”
