Khao Rang
Rang Hill, known as Khao Rang in the Thai language, is one of Phuket Town‘s major viewpoint, and is accessible through a small road right next to Vachira Hospital or from the opposite side of the hill, behind the Baan & Beyond, which is part of Central Phuket.
A favorite with locals, who enjoy the area for a short run or to use the outside fitness facilities, Khao Rang is home to a couple of restaurants, which offer unobstructed views over the city. A small parking lot is available at the top, though you will often see people climbing the hill on foot or with a bicycle.
The main viewpoint extends approximately 10 meters into the air and is facing west, offering stunning vista over Phuket Town, Chalong and the surrounding islands of Phuket. A few monuments have also been built at the top, retracing the history of the viewpoint, though most writings are in Thai language.
It is not uncommon to see some monkeys playing around, though it is easier to catch a glimpse of the gorgeous animal on Khao Ton Sae, which is the hill opposite of Khao Rang. We recommend you to visit the place at the end of the day, so to catch picture-perfect sunsets and why not extend your time there, by having dinners in one of the two restaurants.
A word of warning, however; climbing on top of the hill is made possible through some small, steep roads so it is best to exercise extra caution when trying to reach the top.
